Baby boy blanket

Granny squares are fun to make. Sure it has you crocheting in a square form but it later makes a beautiful creation.

I made this baby blue blanket by using Caron simply soft yarn in colors light blue and soft white.

I also used a size I hook 5.5 mm . I then alternated the soft white and light blue.

Seamless mattress stitch is fairly simple when sewing the squares together. If there are any questions about how to do this stitch you can watch my YouTube channel on how to do it.

 https://youtu.be/bO8iOj03fqk

Abbreviations

Slst slip stitch

Rd round

Ch chain

Hdc half double crochet

Hk hook

Skip skip stitch

Materials

Caron simply soft yarn in white approximately 525 yards

Caron simply soft yarn in light blue approximately 525 yards

Scissors

Yarn needle

5.5mm hook

Measuring tape

Notes

⬜Each square is 3 inches

🟦Granny square is normally in double crochet but I chose to use half double crochet

🟦⬜ Round one and two are continuous rounds but in round 3 and 4 ch2 counts

⬜ I did 2hdc instead of 3 so if you prefer to change it you will be using more yarn so keep that in mind

🟦 This baby blanket is 32 in. x 32 in.

Simply add more squares if you prefer it bigger

⬜🟦 Make 50 squares of each color combination

Above picture shows a close up of each square

Ch2

Rd 1 🟦 starting with blue , 8hdc in the 2nd ch (8hdc)

Rd 2 🟦 slst to top of 1st hdc then 2hdc in each st (16hdc)

Slst and weave in ends

Attach white

Rd 3⬜ ch2 (counts) , *hdc , 2hdc * repeat*to* end of the Rd (24hdc)

Rd 4⬜ ch2 (counts )and hdc in the same st ch2 , sk 2 sts and in the 3rd St (2hdc ch1 2hdc (all in same st this is corner) , sk2 sts , 2hdc in the 3rd st , sk 2 sts, 2hdc ch1 2hdc (all in same st (corner) sk 2 sts, 2hdc in next st , sk 2 sts ,2 hdc ch1 2hdc (corner) , sk 2 sts , 2 hdc in next , sk 2 sts, last corner simply add 2hdc and ch1 slst to top of the 1st hdc

And there you have it ! Your first granny square

When making your other squares do the same steps as above just start off with other color meaning start with blue instead of white.

I simply added a border to help square off the blanket by hdc in each st and in the corners I did hdc , ch2 , hdc

I used red heart super saver economy solids in spring green and hot red and soft white

Red heart super saver economy solids are my go to .

I send approximately 120-130 yards of each color

Tracy the shark

 Cute amigurumi toy ‼️ πŸ‹

There are more than 1,000 species of sharks and rays, with new species discovered every year.

These majestic top predators that are so essential to the natural order of marine ecosystems now face their most severe threat from overfishing.

Why gold I don't know just did lol. Watching a movie and seen the scrap yarn and started to crochet.

Sally the octopus

Let's welcome Sally! I know Sally is pink but she is gorgeous! Here's a nice scrap yarn stash make don't know what to do with all those tentacles.

Sally is a real treat to make she's really easy this is beginner friendly pattern of a octopus. I made this for a customer she has a granddaughter who is turning 1 and wanted to give this to her

Notes

1- continuous rounds so no ch1

2- eyes can be safety eyes but I chose to crochet them

3- be sure to double or triple knots to secure each tentacle. Any one year old will get fresh when playing so we want to be sure they are secure.
