Easy to create gingerbread house




     How to create a gingerbread house quick and easy


materials needed
yarn needed 

red heart super saver chocolate brown           hook 5.5mm (for house)and 2.5mm(for candy)
red heart super saver white                             yarn needle 
scrap yarn of yellow                                        scissors
scrap yarn of any blue                                    red heart super saver warm brown
scrap yarn of any green
scrap yarn of any red


4 in by 4 in  swatch 
10 rows with 15 sts in each row equals
150 sts
154 inches of yarn 


Abbreviations to know

sc *single crochet

hdc * half double crochet  (insert hook yarn over insert hook pull yarn through yarn over and pull through all 3 loops)

hdc2tog * half double crochet decrease (yarn over insert hook in next chain yarn over pull through yarn over go in next chain pull yarn through yarn over pull through all 5 loops
ch* chain
rd * round
slst * slip stitch
blo * back loop only (crochet in the loop away from you)
flo * front loop only (crochet in the loop next to you)
st * stitch

                                                           by using front and back loops it creates the edges to the house

Now we change hook size

make as many as you want I made 1 red 1 green 1 yellow 1 hot pink

rd 1 - 9sc in 2nd ch (9sc)

rd 2 - slst in 1st sc then ch1 and in same ch sc then next ch sc 

rd 3 - ch1 turn 2sc in the 1st ch and in 2nd (4sc)

rd 4 - ch1 slst along side of previous rd and along candy (5 slst)

rd 5 - ch1 in same slst and sc in same then sc in next ch 

rd 6 - ch1 turn 2sc in 1st and 2nd ch (4sc)

slst and leave long enough tail to sew in ends

now take a piece of yarn long enough to wrap 2 times around on the ends to shape the end to look like a wrapper on the candy


with hook 2.5mm
candy cane
make 4

using white and red

first with white

ch10

rd 1 - 3sc in each ch (30sc)

slst leave a long enough tail to help sew in

do the same with red now once finished take both pieces and and place them evenly together and as best as you can twist it it tight then take the pice of yarn and sew in to secure it now take it it looks like a candy cane stick take the piece of yarn and try securing the end where it it shaped like an upside down

hook 2.5mm
with white
rd 1 - ch2 8sc in 2nd ch  (8sc)slst and weave in

with any color you choose
rd 2 - slst in 1st ch then 2sc in each ch (16sc)slst and weave in 

with white
rd 3 - slst ch1 and sc in same ch then sc in the next 2 chs (3sc) 

rd 4 - turn ch1 2sc in 1st ch then sc in next and 2sc in last (5sc)
slst and weave in

on other side attach yarn and ch1 and sc in same ch then sc in next 2 chs (3sc)
ch1 turn 2sc in 1st ch sc in next then 2sc in last (5sc) slst and leave tail to sew in

Assembly

Take house and sew up the sides


Next sew the roof and the sides together


Sc along the edge of the house and roof meet with white yarn
and in 2nd row do the following pattern:
2dc , 2dc , sc , sc  *2dc , 2dc , sc , sc *repeat all the way around

still working on the roof decorating it with more snow this option you can omit if you want its up to you
all you do is ch 66 and as seen in picture to tack it on the roof I simply used a yarn needle with a piece of white yarn long enough I then took the needle and went behind the roof and tacked it on the next area I wanted it to be


Next I made a door
ch7
rd 1 - sc in each ch (7sc)

rd 2 - 9 - turn ch1 sc in each ch (7sc)
slst and leave tail to sew in to the house but before you attach the door I took a piece of white yarn used what you color you want this is the door knob I took the yarn and doubled it then sew in the door place it where you want I placed it in the center



windows
all I did was take white yarn and did 2 squares by this
ch7
rd 1 sc in the 2nd ch and the remaining chs (5sc)

rd 2 - 6 - turn ch1 sc in each ch (5sc )
slst and leave tail to sew in




Attach the candy cane by front door



Attach the candy both kinds


with hook 2.5mm
Make a wreath
with white
ch10 slst in 1st ch


with green
rd 1 - 2sc in each ch  (20sc)

rd 2 - ch1  2sc in each  (40sc)
slst amd leave tail to sew in

next sew in color to the wreath  by using scrap yarn of different colors
attach wreath to door
